You can edit the properties of your brush by double-clicking or right-clicking it, to open the brush editor. You can edit this path with the nodetool (A). A vector path will be created following the brush stroke. You should be able to paint on the canvas with it. Use the vector brush tool (B) and select your new brush from the brushes panel. Your brush should appear in the brushes panel. In other words, intensity brushes are used when you want to create a brush based on an image, and image brushes are used when you want to create a brush based on a shape. New textured image brush instead, will create a brush stroke based on the color values of a raster image. Note: Choosing new textured intensity brush will create a brush stroke based on the opacity values of a raster image. In the brushes panel, click on the menu icon on the right side and select new textured image brush. You will be prompted to choose a location to save and a name to export your slice. Use png as the file type and 1x as the size then, click the little white icon on the right side of the slice name. Your object should have a light blue box around it, indicating that you have created a slice that can be used for exporting.Ĭlick on the slices tab, and expand the menu associated with your newly-created slice by clicking on the small arrow on its left side. Select your shape’s layer and click on the create slice button at the bottom of the slices panel. You can use virtually anything as a brush in Affinity Designer (vector, text, raster images, groups of objects, clipping paths, etc.), for this example we will be using a vector shape. So the overall process involves the creation of a design, exporting it as a png file, and then bringing it back to Affinity Designer to use it as a brush.
